Wallowa Lake Horse Camps offer a progression as children grow into youth! Small numbers (maximum 12 children/youth in each camp) make these camps super special!
All horse campers will sleep in cozy rustic cabins/rooms with heat, lights, padded bunk beds, & will use shower houses. Campers bring their own sleeping bags, towels, etc...
Mornings start with devotions, hot chocolate and a big hearty breakfast before making sack lunches and heading to the horse arenas!
Along with horse riding and instruction, campers get to make new friends, experience Christian programming, create crafts, play games, rest, enjoy delicious meals, and finish the days with campfires, songs, skits, stories and more!
New this year we’ve added “Cowpokes” camp for kids to experience horse camp with an adult (parent, aunt, brother, grandparent… ) Cowpokes will ride horses at Oregon Backcountry Outfitters within walking distance of camp. Riders will learn horse care, feeding/watering, safety, grooming, parts of the horse, saddling, basic riding and more!
Whisperers, Wranglers and Trail Riders will be transported in our camp van to Dave and Marianne Yost’s new ranch in beautiful Lostine where they will spend days with “their own” horse assigned to them for the week!
Trail Riders get to go on a 3 day, 2 night camp-out in Wallowa County with their horses and staff! …cooking outdoors, singing under the stars, ahhhhh….
Learning to care for and manage a horse in a safe environment builds self-esteem and confidence. Group discussions, positive role models, being with horses, no electronic devices and outdoor worship with the message that God loves each of us all serve to develop deep spiritual and personal growth.
